I. Roll Call:
The meeting was called to order at 13:25 hours by Chapter President Scott Smith.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Chaplain Connie Walker.
The Invocation was given by Chaplain Connie Walker.
Membership Attached Headcount: 15 members, 10 guests, 1 gold star brother
Chapter President Scott Smith began the introduction of members by reading the obituary of Leo Herrera. All present MEMBERS & ASSOCIATE MEMBERS introduced themselves & their spouses/ significant others.
II. PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES>br>
Meeting minutes from the quarterly meeting at the Drop Zone in San Antonio, TX were tabled until our August meeting, a motion was made to table by Dusty Jarnigan, and seconded by Robert Gonzalez, was voted on and passed.
II. Reports of Officers
A. Chapter President - Scott Smith:
Conveyed to members our national level actions, our support of the Wounded Warrior Weekend, and our San Antonio support to BAMC. An overview of items to be discussed was given with emphasis on the motorcycle raffle the 2011 reunion bid for San Antonio.
B. Financial Report was tabled until our August meeting.
III. Reports of Committees
A. Scholarships - Chairman Dusty Jarnigan.
Members agreed to discontinue Scholarship Committee reports until it can be funded directly by our chapter.
B. Fund Raisers -
HEB, Krogers, & Tom Thumb support was encouraged.
Motorcycle raffle - Charlie Phillips has donated a 1999 Yamaha V-Star 650 Silverado to the chapter, asking only for the cost of repairs to bring it up to specs; final bill was $1,033.83. Two thousand [2,000] tickets have been printed and our drawing will be held at the national reunion August 01, 2009.
Mike Rodriguez from San Antonio donated a box of homemade Texas memorabilia to sell at the national reunion.
Regional Representatives
* Killeen/ Central Texas- Scott Smith- VA funding of Hospitals & new construction exceeded budget requirements for GFY 2010.
* San Antonio- Russel Walter - Discussed support of Wounded Warrior at BAMC & recent ceremony to receive flag flown over active Brigade in Afghanistan.
* Houston- Gary Granade/ Eric Hitchcock- Continues to meet about every 6 weeks

Need continued support for new VA Hospital. Recommended no one cross the border due to recent violence

IV. Unfinished Business
The BBQ pit for the Roy Maas Children's' Home is complete & will be delivered on May 21, 2009. The pit was completed under budget at $750 & Manny Mermea needs to be recognized for his timeless effort to finish this worthwhile project.
NOTE: At the quarterly Ranch meeting 18 October 2008, a motion was made to buy a mobile BBQ Grill Pit. R. M. Heyman, III, made a $500.00 donation to the general fund to augment the $500.00 we set aside. The final design is stationary which will prevent the pit from disappearing in the middle in the night.

C. Association Mid Winter Conference - January 2010 could possibly be held in San Antonio.
VI. New Business
A. Roberto Sifuentes has created a Day of the Dead altar for exhibit at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center during the month of June. The event begins June 5, with an opening reception for the public from 6 to 9 PM. He welcomes participants who would like to help with the focus on our Brigade history.
B. A general discussion of hosting the 2011 reunion in San Antonio with focus on making a presentation at the national reunion.
C. Our Chapter will procure a table at the 2009 reunion and raffle the motorcycle. We ask that all chapter members attending the reunion to provide support at the vendor table so no single individual is over burdened.
D. After the unfortunate loss of Leo Herrera with the subsequent search for family members, we will post a survivors package on our website to aid our familiy.
VII. Good and Welfare of the Society
A. The 50/50 raffle was won by Eddy Maass, $104.00 /2 = $52.00 to the Texas Chapter. Doc donated his funds to Mike Torres Ministry.
B. Raffles:
Charlie Phillips had a metal plaque that brought $ 160.00 to the General Fund.
Two chapter coins brought $ 20.00 to the General Fund.
Motorcycle raffle tickets brought $ 20.00 to the Motorcycle Fund.
Total Funds Collected - $252.00
NOTE: Tino & Mary Soto donated a bottle of booze to be raffled at our Waco meeting
IX. Adjournment
A. The next meeting is scheduled to be at Waco TX, August 15, 2009 at American Legion Post 121 (same location as last year). Details will follow in the Chapter News Letter.
B. The invocation was given by Chaplain Connie Walker.
C. Meeting was ended by Scott Smith at 15:00 hours.
D. The chapter then convoyed to our Brigade Memorial Highway for a ceremony led by Chaplain Connie Walker. Members dispersed at 15:30 hours.
