Chapter 13 Mission Statement
The 173d Airborne Brigade Association, Inc. is a 501C(19) non-profit service organization committed to our members, our community, and our great nation. We are dedicated to keeping the
unique bond that exists between all Sky Soldiers.
Our annual reunions allow us to maintain camaraderie with old war buddies and make new ones.
Texas Chapter 13 will be hosting the national reunion in San Antonio, scheduled for June of 2011.
Texas Chapter 13 Sky Soldiers are involved in numerous organized functions and community events. As an example of our commitment to community, we support:
- Christmas feast and summer BBQs for the abused kids at Roy Maas' Meadowland Center in Boerne
- Annual scholarship to members, their children or Gold Star parents, spouses and their children
- A bereavement program for Gold Star families of Sky Soldiers killed in action
- The Wounded Warrior Program at Brooke Army Medical Center [BAMC]
- The annual Ride for the Troops to assist the Fisher House at BAMC
- The Wounded Warrior Weekend Fishing Program at Port OConnor
- Active duty Sky Soldier downrange packages and letters
- The annual Running of the Herd, a 24 hour assault run to commemorate the battle on the 8th of November, 1965.
- The Veterans War Memorial of Texas in McAllen
- The 173d Memorial Highway in Kerrville
